About this policy
Sideline Save is developed and operated by Chase Seibert. This policy describes how the Sideline Save iOS app, public webpages, TestFlight beta-access form, and developer-operated analytics service handle information.
This policy does not govern Apple’s Photos or iCloud services, or third-party apps and services you choose when sharing a video. Those services have their own privacy practices.
Information handled on your device
Sideline Save processes the following information locally to provide its features:
- Camera and microphone: Camera video and optional microphone audio are processed on your device to maintain the rolling buffer and create clips.
- Photos: Videos you save remain in your Photos library. Sideline Save reads back the videos it created so you can browse, play, organize, share, favorite, or delete them.
- Motion: Device motion is used only while the optional level meter is active. Motion readings are not stored or transmitted.
- App settings and records: Sport presets, onboarding state, local capture statistics, saved-video references, and related clip metadata are stored in the app’s private container.
- Recoverable buffers: Short-lived camera buffers may be kept in the app’s private container after an interruption. They expire after approximately five minutes and are subject to count and storage limits.
- Temporary share files: Exports are removed after sharing, and files left by an interrupted share are removed after 24 hours. File modification times are read only to perform this cleanup.
Analytics we collect
When analytics is enabled in a distributed build, Sideline Save may send limited product analytics over HTTPS to a developer-operated endpoint hosted on Amazon Web Services.
| Apple category | What Sideline Save sends | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Device ID | A random identifier created for this installation of the app. | Analytics; not linked to identity; not used for tracking. |
| Product Interaction | App opens, capture and Settings actions, selected options, saves, shares, deletions, counts, and event timestamps. | Analytics; not linked to identity; not used for tracking. |
| Other Usage Data | Camera, Microphone, and Photos permission states. | Analytics; not linked to identity; not used for tracking. |
Analytics also includes app version, platform, build audience, and technical event or batch identifiers needed to deliver and process the events.
Apple uses the broad “Device ID” label for the persistent random installation identifier. It is not an Apple advertising identifier, IDFV, hardware serial number, account ID, or contact identifier. It changes after the app is deleted and installed again.
Sideline Save does not send your name, email address, precise location, contacts, advertising identifier, hardware identifier, Photos content, video content, audio content, crash logs, performance measurements, or capture diagnostics as analytics.
Public website analytics
The public Sideline Save webpages use Google Analytics to measure visits, beta-access link clicks, successful waitlist submissions, and which pages and calls to action are useful. The Google tag may process the page URL and title, referring page, waitlist-button placement, browser and device information, approximate region derived from network information, and a browser identifier stored by Google Analytics. When a waitlist submission is successfully added to the TestFlight group, the waitlist automation sends Google Analytics an anonymous event that a lead was generated; it does not send the form response, name, email address, or App Store Connect identifier. Website analytics is separate from the app’s installation analytics and does not receive your Sideline Save videos, audio, Photos information, or app records.
TestFlight beta access
If you choose to request Sideline Save TestFlight beta access, the linked Google Form collects the email address you enter, your consent response, and a submission timestamp. This information is separate from app analytics and is not linked to a Sideline Save installation or its saved videos.
The form information is used only to administer beta access and send Sideline Save beta or launch announcements that you requested. Most parents are added to TestFlight within five minutes.
Request TestFlight accessHow we use information
The limited analytics described above is used to:
- measure app and public website usage and understand whether features and pages are useful;
- understand permission and save flows, including where people encounter difficulty;
- plan improvements and evaluate product changes; and
- operate, secure, and troubleshoot the analytics service; and
- manage requested TestFlight beta access and launch announcements.
We do not use analytics or beta-access form information for advertising profiles, credit decisions, cross-service tracking, or attempts to identify an anonymous installation.
Retention and deletion
Information on your device
App settings, saved-video references, local statistics, recoverable buffers, and queued analytics remain in the app’s private container until normal app cleanup removes them or you delete Sideline Save. Recoverable buffers expire after approximately five minutes. Temporary share files are removed after sharing or, if interrupted, after 24 hours.
Deleting Sideline Save removes its private on-device data and causes a future installation to create a new random installation identifier. Videos already saved to Photos remain there until you delete them in Sideline Save or the Photos app.
Uploaded analytics
Raw app analytics is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, understand, and improve Sideline Save. Aggregated statistics that no longer identify an installation may be retained longer. Website analytics is retained according to the Google Analytics property settings and Google’s service policies.
Beta-access information
Beta-access form information is retained while it is needed to administer the beta and requested launch communications. You may unsubscribe from an email or contact the developer to have your form information deleted.
Your choices and rights
- You can review or change Camera, Microphone, Motion, and Photos permissions in iOS Settings.
- You can turn off the Level Meter in Sideline Save Settings to stop use of motion data for that feature.
- You can delete saved clips from Sideline Save or Photos.
- You can stop future analytics collection from an installation by deleting the app. This also removes queued, not-yet-uploaded analytics from the device.
- You can limit public website analytics with browser cookie, script-blocking, or privacy controls and can clear website data stored by your browser.
- You can unsubscribe from beta-access emails or ask the developer to delete your form response.
- You may contact the developer to ask questions or request access to, correction of, or deletion of applicable information.
Sideline Save has no user accounts and does not collect contact information in its analytics. As a result, the developer may not be able to connect a request to a particular installation. If you request analytics deletion, include the approximate installation and usage period; reasonable efforts will be made to locate and delete matching raw records. For a beta-access form request, include the email address you submitted.
Children’s privacy
Sideline Save is intended for parents, families, and other sideline supporters. Videos and audio that an adult chooses to record are processed and saved locally; the developer and analytics services do not receive or upload those videos, audio, or video metadata. They also do not capture children’s names, contact details, account information, or other personal details. The beta-access form is intended for adults and does not ask for a child’s information.
Security
Sideline Save uses administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the limited information it handles. Analytics is sent over HTTPS, requests are signed for service integrity, and the app avoids placing media or personal identifiers in analytics payloads. No method of storage or internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.
International processing
The app analytics service is hosted in the United States. Google may process website analytics and beta-access form information in locations where it operates. If you use Sideline Save, visit its public webpages, or request beta access from another country, information may be processed in the United States or other locations where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when Sideline Save’s features, service providers, or data practices change. The effective date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes will be reflected here and, when appropriate, in the app or App Store listing.
