Choose 0, 5, 10, or 20 seconds of pre-roll in Settings. Pre-roll captures action immediately before you start a highlight. You can also choose post-roll to continue recording briefly after you stop. The app starts with sport-specific pre-roll defaults.

No. Sideline Save buffers video only while it is open and active. If you lock your phone, switch apps, or close Sideline Save, camera and microphone capture stop. If you had already started a highlight, the app makes a best-effort attempt to finish and save the footage captured so far.

Keeping the camera active and maintaining a video buffer uses more battery than ordinary phone use, especially at higher-quality settings. Start with a full charge and bring a battery pack for tournaments or long game days.

Sideline Save includes presets for Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Football, and Custom. Each sport keeps its own capture preferences, so you can tune settings without changing another sport’s setup.

Saved clips are stored in the Apple Photos library—not inside a separate Sideline Save cloud account. Open Photos and check Recents or the Sideline Save album. Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, and Football clips are also added to a matching Sideline Save – Sport album when Photos allows the album update.

You can also open Saved Videos from the thumbnail in the lower-right corner of the Sideline Save camera screen.

Saved highlights are stored in your Apple Photos library. While capture is open, the app maintains a short temporary on-device video buffer so it can include pre-roll in a saved highlight. That temporary buffer is not uploaded or kept as a separate saved video.

Open Saved Videos, choose the clip, then tap anywhere on its Sport row or tap the pencil icon. Pick the new sport. Sideline Save keeps the clip in the main Sideline Save album, removes it from the prior sport album, and adds it to the new sport album. Choosing Custom removes it from the prior sport album without creating a Custom album.

Open Saved Videos, then open a clip or use Select to work with several clips. Use the share button to open the iOS share sheet. Deleting asks Photos to move the video to Recently Deleted. If you change your mind, recover it from the Photos app while Apple still retains it there.

Open Game Changer, open or create a new message thread, attach a photo, go to Albums, and choose your Sideline Save album.

Open the iOS Settings app, search for Sideline Save, and review Camera, Microphone, Motion, and Photos access. Camera and Photos are required to capture and save clips. Limited Photos access is enough because Sideline Save only needs to save videos and read back the videos it created. Microphone is optional.

Microphone access is optional. If you want sideline audio, open iOS Settings, find Sideline Save, and enable Microphone. A clip recorded while access is off will remain silent; granting access later cannot add audio to an existing clip.

Your camera video and optional audio stay on your iPhone and in your Photos library. Sideline Save does not upload your camera feed, saved videos, audio, or Photos identifiers. The app has no user accounts; it may collect limited anonymous usage and permission-state analytics to improve the product. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Check with the host league and facility before setting up. For parent or fan streaming, Little League’s live-streaming guidance says that stream equipment may not be affixed anywhere on the playing facility. It also says camera placement cannot obstruct the view of people attending the game.

The Level Meter is saved separately for each sport. Open Sideline Save Settings, choose the active sport, and turn on Level Meter for that sport. Motion access must also be enabled in iOS Settings.

Sideline Save 1.0 is designed for iPhone running iOS 17 or later. A real iPhone camera is required for capture; simulator previews used during development are not real camera recordings.
